United Way fights for health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. In southwest Minnesota, more than 50,000 local people will be served in 2017-18 through the United Way of Southwest Minnesota initiatives, community partner programs and partnerships.
United Way supports many educational programs throughout the year including: Stuff the Bus School Supplies, Student Emergency Funds, Imaginary Library, and Wild about Kindergarten School Readiness Kits just to name a few in which MCC students and families benefit.
Each year MCC staff and students hold a campaign to give back to the United Way. This year the staff is holding a silent auction where staff may donate homemade crafts, services, gift certificates, gift baskets, or baked goods. MCC has many talented and creative staff. This is great activity to get staff involved as well as a lot of fun for staff.
The students at the high school may donate $1 for open AP. Each grade level has an opportunity to spend their AP period in the gym supervised by Mr. Scandrett. The elementary students are hosting a dress up day (Pajamas/Sweat) wear student are asked to bring a $1 donation. Once again all proceeds will go to the United Way.
November is Kindness Month, and during the week of November 6th , the United Way came to MCC and videotaped a couple of our elementary students talking about what kindness meant to them. You can check this out on the United Way Facebook page.
I hope you are all enjoying our web-site at http://www.mcc.mntm.org/. This site, updated on a regular basis, is an excellent communication tool for students, parents, and community members. You can log into your account to check your student’s progress reports, attendance and lunch account balances. Sports scores, daily announcements and staff information are just a few of the things available with the click of your mouse. I hope you are also appreciating our communication
tool, Instant Alert parent notification system which calls you for late starts, cancellations, as well as other school announcements. Best of luck to our winter sports programs as we enter into the 2017-18 seasons. Please contact me at 507-836-6450 x 5102 or email [email protected] with any questions you may have. Have a happy and safe holiday season.
